Well, when it was time to start looking for tires I was also wanting new rims. I couldn't spend a lot of money on aftermarket rims either. A great alternative is used 97+ SE Maxima rims. They look absoloutly great on 3rd generation Maxima's and they would be sheaper than new rims. Now, all I had to do was find a pair. They are in fairly high demand by us 3rd gen owners. Luckily, a friend was getting new rims on his Max at the same time I was looking. So, I got his rims that are in reat shape, for a lot less than I'd pay for aftermarket rims. Also, I wanted ot go with a nicer and wider tire. I was on a very limited bidget. Anything over $100 per tire was way out of the question and $90 a tire would take some convincing. I finally (after much surching) narrowed it down to either the Perelli P6000 Sport Veloce and the Yokohama Avid V4. They were both priced at just over $90 each (for a 215/50/HR16 and 225/55/VR16 respectively). So after much debate and a few pphone calls to The Tire Rack, I decided on the Yokohama's because of the extra width and higher speed rating. I must say that I am very happy with the both the look of the rims and the performance of the tires. Here are some pictures. |
