-- Painted Calipers --

Here are some pictures form when I painted the calipers on my car. The whole process took about 6 hours per axle. This is a good bit longer than normal because of the two-tone paint takes extra setup time and drying time.

The finished product:

(maybe someday I'll get new rotors!)

Here's the first caliper all wrapped up in newspaper and the parts that are going to be black are tapped and or wrapped so only the parts showing will be silver.

Here's the same thing after I sprayed the second coat of silver on. Nice and shiny, ehh?

And this is after I stripped the tape off. Almost everything that is sliver here will stay silver -- only a little overspray in the corners that will be covered in black.

Then, after rapping up all the silver parts, I sprayed the rest black.

After a few coats of black, I pulled everything off to let it dry for 30 minutes or so. Then, I applied 3 coats of clear coat to help keep the shine over time. The clear coat dries much faster than the paint -- but it's harder to tell because (duh) it's clear! After doing that, you take a picture of your self, next to your beautiful work of art.

Here's where my brain kicked in and I used the flash. Much better view. This is a the right rear side. I really like the two-tone look!

Here's a nice pic of the whole left rear side. It was dusk so the black part of the caliper didn't pick up too well. Still a nice picture. (IMHO)
